-------------- Dr Robert S. Williams, OMM, MSM and bar, CD Brigadier-General (ret’d) Military service (1977-2014) Robert served as an officer in the Canadian Army after graduating from Royal Roads/Royal Military College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While serving in the military he was deployed on overseas operations to Croatia as part of a United Nations mission (UNPROFOR), several times to Bosnia with NATO (IFOR and SFOR), and also to Kabul, Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Headquarters in 2004. He worked with Polish armed forces on all of these overseas missions. While a student at Canadian Forces College in Toronto in 2002/2003, he authored a major paper entitled: Prisoner of War Status for Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa – AK) personnel in World War II. The paper, which included interviews with a number of veterans, was dedicated to all AK veterans, whose story is virtually unknown in the West. Owing to his linguistic ability in Slavic languages he has travelled extensively in Eastern and Central Europe including participating as a interpreter in the Canadian military delivery of Red Cross supplies to parts of the former Soviet Union. He has also participated on a number of Arms Control Inspections. His doctoral dissertation in history (Queen’s University in Kingston) focused on the experience of the 1st Polish Armoured Division under Canadian command in Northwest Europe in late 1944 and the challenges in coalition operations resulting from language and cultural differences. He currently teaches graduate courses in War Studies as a sessional instructor at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) as well as tutoring and mentoring a number of the next generation of military leadership. Major Awards (Canadian/International) Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for service support when deployed in Afghanistan in 2004, awarded in 2006. Bar to Meritorious Service Medal (MSM and bar) awarded in 2014. Order of Military Merit (OMM) for career work, gazetted in 2009. Poland (PL) Polish Army Medal (Gold) Zloty Medal Wojska Polskiego, awarded in August 2020. |
Wspólne oglądanie meczu Polska -
Austria w Ottawie
Piątek,
21 czerwca 2024,
godz. 11:30
Dom Polski SPK 379 Waverley St., Ottawa Polska drużyna rozegrała bardzo
dobre spotkanie z
Holandią. Wprawdzie
mecz przegrany 2:1,
ale nawet była duża
szansa na remis.
Austria przegrała z
Francją 1:0, więc
spodziewać się trzeba
wyrównanej gry,
chociaż to nie będzie
łatwy przeciwnik dla
biało-czerwonych.
Polska gola!!!
