Take part in the
nation’s biggest birthday party on July 1!
The
Nation's Capital is the headquarters for Canada's
birthday celebration. Each year,  hundreds of
thousands of people visited Parliament Hill, Major's
Hill Park, Jacques-Cartier Park, and other locations
in the surrounding areas to celebrate Canada. This
year marks Canada's 155th birthday.
On July 1, join us in
Ottawa–Gatineau to celebrate Canada’s birthday!
Canada’s Capital Region buzzes with activity, as
Canadians from across the country flock to the Capital to
show their national pride.
This year festivities will not take place on Parliament
Hill. There are attempts made by Trudeau government to
cancel The Canada Day
celebrations in a future, and rename July 1st holiday to 
On
July 1, Parliament Hill used to draw thousands of
Canadians dressed in red and white. The Canada Day
festivities on the Hill used to run from morning to
night—ceremonial events, shows, activities, fireworks and
much more! Enjoy the good cheer as Canadians from across
the country come together in the Capital to celebrate
Canada’s birthday.
Parliament Hill is
among our country’s most iconic landmarks. Like
every other day of the year, visit the Hill on July
1!
NEW!!! Parliament
Hill has been the official Canada Day site for
over 50 years. Justin Trudeau didn't allow
to have Canada Day celebrations on the Hill this
year. Canada Day activities are held mainly at LeBreton
Flats Park (map)
and Place
des Festivals Zibi (map).
WARNING: There
are restrictions with regard to access to the
downtown area close to the Parliament Hill.
A motor vehicle control zone will be in effect
from Wednesday, June 29 at 8 am until Monday, July
4 at 6 am. For all the details and for the most
current road conditions, visit the City
of Ottawa website.
All vehicles remaining parked in Special Event No
Stopping zones in the Vehicle Control Zone will be
ticketed and towed. Enforcement will begin
Wednesday June 29 at 8 AM.
Park your car away from the Vehicle Control
Zone or use public transportation.
Street closures are also planned for Gatineau.
The Portage Bridge is closed to traffic to
only allow the public to walk between official
sites from July 1 at 6 am to July 2 at 2 am, the
bridge is closed to all vehicles, with the
exception of emergency vehicles and buses.
The Chaudière Crossing is closed to both car
traffic and pedestrians from July 1 at 6 am to
July 2 at 2 am.
