Régine (Delabit) Wyczynski born in
Marcq-en-Baroeul, France, August 25th, 1930, passed away
in Ottawa on August 1st, 2019. As she frequently
mentioned, she was ready and looking forward to be
reunited with her beloved husband Paul (Pawel)
Wyczynski.
She will be mourned and deeply missed by her children
Michel (Suzanne Laroche), Isabelle (John Copeland), Rita
(Paul Crampton), Bernard (Anita Huber), Marc (Danielle
Bourret), Monique (David Richard) and Anne (Roberto
Spada) as well as her grandchildren Christopher (Mélanie
Stefancsisc) and Patrick Copeland, Stefan, Brendan
(Gabrielle Schachter) and Adrienne Crampton, Alexa and
Jordana Wyczynski, Nicholas (Elizabeth Chamberland) and
Alexandre (Isabelle Tremblay) Wyczynski, Justine and
Jeffery (Ellen Day) Smyth and Ricardo and Antonio Spada
and her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jonathan
Copeland as well as her beloved extended family in
France. She will be forever remembered as a wife,
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and
great-aunt.
Upon her arrival to Canada, she married her fiancé Paul
Wyczynski, September 11th, 1951. As she was passionate
about French-Canadian educational and cultural issues,
she became actively involved in the following
organizations: Secretary and President of the Parent
Teacher Association (A.P.I.); councilor of "la Société
des écrivains"; Secretary, President and
President-General of "la Société d'études et de
conférences (section Ottawa-Hull)". Lastly, she was
elected by the City of Ottawa Francophones, as member of
"le Comité consultatif de la langue française du Conseil
scolaire publique d'Ottawa".
Régine (Delabit) Wyczynski, was also an author. She
received an honorable mention for her book Drame au pays
des Touaregs, published in 1968. She was also awarded
First Prize for a text submitted to "le Concours
littéraire de la Société d'étude et de conférences".
The family wishes to particularly thank Dr. Robert Eaton
and Dr. Brendan Trickey and the caring nursing staff and
doctors at The Civic Hospital.
Family will receive condolences on Monday, August 12,
2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. at "La Paroisse du Sacré-Coeur",
591 Cumberland Street, Ottawa, Ontario (map),
followed by a service at 2 p.m. A private interment for
family members, to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Régine, donations
can be made to "Le Centre de recherche en civilisation

Régine Wyczynski, née Delabit,
qui a vu le jour a Marcq-en Baroeul, France, le 25 aout
1930, nous a quittés pour un monde meilleur, le 1er aout
2019. Ainsi qu’elle le répétait souvent, c’est
avec joie qu’elle irait rejoindre son mari bien-aimé
Paul (Pawel) Wyczynski. Elle laisse dans le deuil
ses enfants Michel (Suzanne Laroche), Isabelle (John
Copeland), Rita (Paul Crampton), Bernard (Anita Huber),
Marc (Danielle Bourret), Monique (David Richard), Anne
(Roberto Spada). Ses petits-enfants Christopher
(Mélanie Stefancsisc) et Patrick Copeland, Stefan,
Brendan (Gabrielle Schachter) et Adrienne Crampton,
Alexa et Jordana Wyczynski, Nicholas (Elizabeth
Chamberland) et Alexandre (Isabelle Tremblay) Wyczynski,
Justine et Jeffery (Ellen Day) Smyth, Ricardo et Antonio
Spada et ses arriere-petits-enfants Andrew et Jonathan
Copeland ainsi que sa famille bien-aimée en France.
On se souviendra toujours d’elle comme une femme
dévouée, toujours prete a aider les membres de son
entourage. Des son arrivée au Canada, elle épousa
Paul Wyczynski a qui elle était fiancée. Au cours
des années qui suivirent, elle fit partie des A.P.I. en
tant que secrétaire puis de présidente, de la Société
des écrivains, comme conseillere, puis de la Société
d’étude et de conférences (section Ottawa-Hull)
1989-1991 ou elle occupa les postes de secrétaire et de
présidente, enfin elle fut élue présidente générale de
la Société d’étude et de conférences pour un mandat de
deux ans, 1993-1995. Elle fut également élue, par
les francophones de la Ville d’Ottawa, membre du Comité
consultatif de la langue française aupres du Conseil
scolaire publique d’Ottawa, 1977 et 1978.
Régine (Delabit) Wyczynski a obtenu une mention pour un
livre publié en 1968 et un Premier prix pour un texte
présenté au Concours littéraire de la Société d’étude et
de conférences.
La famille souhaite particulierement remercier Dr.
Robert Eaton et Dr. Brendan Trickey ainsi que les
infirmieres et les docteurs de l’hôpital Civic pour
leurs excellents soins prodigués.
La visite et les funérailles se tiendront a la Paroisse
du Sacré-Coeur au 591, rue Cumberland a Ottawa, lundi le
12 aout, 2019. La visite se tiendra de 13 heures a
14 heures suivi d’une messe a 14 heures. Un
enterrement privé se fera au Cimetiere Beechwood.
En mémoire de Régine, des dons au Centre de recherche en
civilisation canadienne-française de l’Université

Wyczyńskim, wybitnym przedstawicielu Polonii
kanadyjskiej,
profesorze romanistyki
i
literatury Quebeku w Uniwersytecie Ottawskim i
długoletnim członku
polsko-kanadyjskich kół naukowych. Tworzyli Oboje
przez całe swoje
niezwykłe życie wspaniały zespół twórczy, który
zaznaczył się
złotymi zgłoskami w kulturze frankojęzycznej Kanady
i w kulturze
polskiej w Kanadzie.
Régine
Wyczyński z d. Delabit urodziła się w miejscowości
Marq-en-Baroeul pod Lille, we francuskiej części
Flandrii, blisko
granicy beligijskiej. Pawła Wyczyńskiego poznała
podczas Jego
studiów filologii francuskiej na Uniwersytecie w
Lille. Pobrali się
11 września 1951 po przybyciu Régine do Kanady. Dom
Ich na osiedlu
Brittania w Ottawie (od 1963) miał trzy maszty,
które było z
daleka widać przy brzegu Lac Deschênes na rzece
Ottawa. Na tych
masztach były trzy flagi: flaga polska, flaga
francuska i flaga
kanadyjska... Były one symbolem Ich życia
zanurzonego w trzech
kulturach: polskiej, francuskiej i kanadyjskiej.
Régine
i Paweł (Paul) stworzyli piękną rodzinę – siedmiorga
dzieci:
Michel, Isabella, Rita, Bernard, Marc, Monique i
Anne, 13 wnucząt i
2 prawnuków.
La
vie active de Régine était remplie de famille,
d'écriture et de
toute l'aide qu'elle pouvait offrir à Paul dans
son travail créatif.
C'est son dévouement total qui a donné lieu à leur
extraordinaire
travail commun dans tous les domaines possibles.
Elle rayonnait sur
un grand nombre d'amis de divers milieux créatifs
et d'élites
culturelles, tant canadiennes que polonaises.
Régine a été une
animatrice extraordinaire d'une vie culturelle de
haut niveau, et ses
amis n'oublieront jamais les rencontres et les
événements spéciaux
organisés par Régine et Paul à diverses occasions
importantes.
Leur dévouement à Dieu et au service des autres a
marqué toute
leur vie.
Régine
Wyczyński była członkiem i liderką organizacji
kulturalnych
takich jak Parent Teacher Association (A.P.I), la
Société des
écrivains i la Sociéte d’etudes et de conférences
(section
Ottawa-Hull). Była też wybranym członkiem komitetu
doradczego w
sprawie nauczania jęz. francuskiego – le Comité
consultatif de la
langue française du Conseil scolaire publique
d’Ottawa. To
niezwykle bujne życie zarówno rodzinne jak
i
kulturalne wymagało wielkiego poświęcenia i
monumentalnej pracy.
Wszystkie te trudy, Régine znosiła z uśmiechem i Jej
przyjaźń
dla nas wszystkich pozostanie na zawsze w naszych
sercach.
Składamy
nasze najgłębsze wyrazy wielkiego współczucia i żalu
dla całej
Rodziny Państwa Wyczyńskich z powodu tak wielkiej i
niepowetowanej
straty.
Niech
dobry Bóg przyjmie Ją do swego Królestwa.
